Library of Things

What is a library of things, you ask?

The CLPL library of things is where we keep non-traditional library items that can be checked out.  We currently offer WiFi hot spots, tablets, bicycles, and kill-a-watt meters.  Keep checking back as we add more items!

WiFi Hotspots and Tablets

1. You must be at least 18 years old to check out a WiFi hotspot or tablet.  You cannot have more than $10 in fines on your account.  Your account must be more than 90 days old.

2. Hotspots and tablets circulate for a seven-day loan period. Devices can be renewed at the library provided there are no holds on the item.  Devices cannot be renewed over the phone.

3. Hotspots and tablets must be returned at the Circulation Desk inside the library.  They cannot be returned at the outside return box or at another COOL library.  There is a $10 fee for returning a device incorrectly.

4. There is a $5/day fine, following a two-day grace period, for overdue devices.  Devices are considered overdue at the end of the seven-day loan period.  They are considered lost after thirty days.  The account holder is responsible for any lost or damaged items, full replacements costs are $130 for hotspots, $350 for tablets, and $490 for iPads.

Kill-a-watt meters

Energy efficient appliances save you money.  Check out a Kill A Watt™ meter and it will assess how efficient they really are.  You can calculate your electrical expenses by the day, week, month, or even an entire year.  Also check the quality of your power by monitoring voltage, line frequency, and power factor.
